Thanks to her sensibility, permitting her to look over the form, the japanese artist Miya Ozaki can express an abstract dimension which has in itself suggestions of nature and takes unusual pictorial values for our culture to the absolute relation between the white and the black through prints, dropping and stratifications in order to define a scheme that magically becomes fluid throbbing matter like water flowing and fog-transparencies.
The artist makes reference in her works to the theory of “Nagazjuna”, theory of the empty space, of the “not-existence” that asserts eight negations, among which, the main one in her expression, the “not-identity” and the “not difference” and in this research she inquires and interprets the beauty of atmosphere.
Ozaki entrusts to paper and water the technical translation to give an ideal imagine to this vibrating “region” of the “Water – The world of dew-drops”, the title she gives to her whole cycle of great dimensions works, presented in Italy in an art exhibition in Città di Noale and in the XXIInd edition 2007 of “Premio Italia per le Arti Visive”, where she won the present cover-prize in the “Eco d’arte moderna” Magazine.
In the use of the “Sumi-technique” the artist appears absolutely innovative and in fact the black ink is not spread by the brush – as the tradition requires – but used freely on a surface, against which she imprints the big sheet of paper to obtain prints. Subsequently she uses white tempera extracted from a natural colouring-matter, and so she can create movable intersections between the white and the black with a great control of her gesture. They are “pages” of a deep refinement, in which is annulled any recognizable form in order to open her art to a mysterious dimension from a part nebulous but also tangible through this fascinating correspondence that the artist creates between the philosophical theme of her narration and the matter, with which she can get it visible: the water of dropping is subject and instrument to represent it in the same time.
